tasked with demonstrating material exploration and rapid prototyping, the hexfold lantern was created. inspired by naoto fukasawa’s product design work, this lantern was made using simple geometric forms with minimal ornamentation. the hexfold lantern was constructed using a variety of metal fabrication techniques (mainly folding and welding) and is composed of 16 gauge steel sheet metal and sandblasted acrylic piping.
